Our story started with a porch swing. We wanted a comfy spot to relax on summer evenings—something high quality but still reasonable on a budget. Luckily, we knew someone handy with tools who could make exactly what we had in mind: a twin bed–sized porch swing made of pine (to save a little money), stained a deep brown to match our home, and sturdy enough to handle Colorado's sometimes beautiful, sometimes harsh weather, all year long.
A month later, the swing was finished—and something else happened too. That spark grew into SprkForge, a creative marketplace where anyone with a sprk can connect with skilled artisans and bring their ideas to life.

Anyone 18 or older! You can join as a Customer (someone with an idea), a Maker (someone who creates), or both.
Yes! Right now, SprkForge is completely free for both makers and people with ideas. Our goal is to build a community that supports both sides before any paid features are introduced. We'll always give you plenty of notice if that changes.
Makers contact you via the email you provide when posting your Sprk. Keep an eye on your inbox so you don't miss any messages!
Anything handmade that you specialize in! Jewelry, textiles, woodwork, art, pottery, leather goods, home décor, and more. All items must be genuinely handmade by you — reselling store-bought items isn't allowed.
No — SprkForge is all about custom, handmade creations. Accounts focused on selling supplies may be removed.
All initial communication happens via email. SprkForge is here to connect you, but payments, project details, and agreements are handled directly between you and the other person.
Not directly. SprkForge connects you, but all transactions and agreements happen between users. We don't manage payments or guarantee project outcomes.
Protect your personal info, use secure payment methods, and only meet in person if you feel completely comfortable. You're in charge of your own safety.
Makers and Customers decide payment together — PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, or any method that works for both. It's best to agree on payment terms before starting a project.
Every piece is handmade, so it may not be exact. Be clear with your maker about style, materials, and revisions. Most issues can be solved by open communication.

Yes! Everything on SprkForge is handmade by real people. No mass-produced or AI-generated items allowed.
Offensive, explicit, violent, or discriminatory content is prohibited. You also can't request items that infringe on copyrights or intellectual property.
Currently, image uploads are not available in beta, but you can link to your portfolio or social media so people can see your work.
Accounts may be suspended or removed. We aim to keep SprkForge a safe, creative space for everyone.
